The General Assembly
REALIZING that factories do not take into account of the health and well being of humans and the environment they live in. The impact it has on a community and the people living within a three mile radius of the factory/power plant are in danger of suffering serious health issues on a day to day basis;
DEEPLY CONCERNED with the amount of respiratorial issues due to Pollution from power plants and other major pollutants in the communities of lower income environments. The effects of environmental racism still exist to this day and we have seen how it can harm many people severally;
ENCOURAGING people to liberate themselves, to stand up against environmental racism they face by educating one another and be the change they wish to see in the community or to encourage those who are wiling to make a positive change for everyone;
STRESSING the fact that coal burning, fossil fuels, and nuclear energy not only affect human health but the well being of our only planet which we have seen today is in critical condition due to global warming;
TAKING INTO ACCOUNT that laws and acts have been proposed to the power plant corporation owners yet they continue to refuse making small changes that could make the biggest difference in the lives of many living around the power plant and those who all ready have an existing lung disease;
1. Proposing a bill to limit pollutants or a clean air act to enforce regulations and limits to pollution released by factories and coal burning power plants;
2. Applauds the citizens of the community for their determination in making a change in their community and creating awareness of the problem;
3. Suggests a way for coal burning power plants to convert to green energy and cutting down pollution while saving money and both sides have a positive outcome;
4 Demands justice for the community and bring and end to environmental racism going on in the Little Village community an other communities around the chicago area;
5. Expresses the hope of forming agreements with major corporations and other factories within the communities to take the next step in producing clean energy.
